Beaches 
45 years ago, Biarritz welcomed Europe's first surfers to its beaches. With its large beaches and powerful waves it requires scrupulous supervision by the Life Guards during the summer season.

►Grande Plage Beach beach in the centre of Biarritz with shops nearby. Because of the high number of bathers and surfers, bathing and surfing are subject to strict regulations. Information is provided at thebeach safety post. |

| ►Côte des Basques beach beautiful beach ideal for surfing but only at low tide. (no sand at high tide) Warning for surfers : getting out of the water is difficult at high tide because of rocks. |
