Saving and Restoring Sainte-Eugénie Church
Here, the City of Biarritz is preserving its heritage.
Following a mild earthquake felt on February 16, 2023, falling stones and the appearance of new cracks on the vaults of Sainte-Eugénie Church were observed. After securing the building, specialists provided a diagnosis and recommendations for the church’s rehabilitation.

A Three-Stage Project
Stage 1:
Stabilize the ground and reinforce the building’s foundations.
Stage 2:
Restore the entire exterior envelope (masonry, roofing, stained-glass windows, and woodwork).
Stage 3:
Restore the church’s interior, completing the building’s rehabilitation. This includes highlighting the remarkable furnishings, cleaning, and bringing the organ back into service.

Budget:
The first phase is estimated at 4 million euros.
A total of 10 million euros is needed to restore the church.

Salvar y Restaurar la Iglesia de Santa Eugenia
Aquí, la Ciudad de Biarritz protege su patrimonio.
Tras un leve sismo sentido el 16 de febrero de 2023, se observaron caídas de piedras y la aparición de nuevas grietas en las bóvedas de la iglesia de Santa Eugenia. Luego de asegurar el edificio, especialistas emitieron un diagnóstico y recomendaciones para su rehabilitación.

Una obra en tres etapas
Primera etapa:
Consolidar el terreno y reforzar los cimientos del edificio.
Segunda etapa:
Restaurar la totalidad del cerramiento del edificio (mampostería, tejado, vitrales y carpintería).
Tercera etapa:
Restauración del interior de la iglesia, que completará la rehabilitación del edificio, incluyendo la puesta en valor del mobiliario destacado, así como la limpieza y puesta en funcionamiento del órgano.

Presupuesto:
La primera fase está valorada en 4 millones de euros.
Se necesitan un total de 10 millones de euros para restaurar la iglesia.
